Quick Hash Publisher's description
from Ted Smith
A Linux and Windows GUI to enable the rapid selection and subsequent hashing of files, either individually or recursively throughout a folder structure, text and (on Linux) disks.
A Linux and Windows GUI to enable the rapid selection and subsequent hashing of files, either individually or recursively throughout a folder structure, text and (on Linux) disks. Designed for Linux, but also available for Windows. SHA1, SHA256, SHA512 and MD5 available and all output can be copied to clipboard or saved as CSVHTML file.
Recursive MD5/SHA1/SHA256/SHA512 hashing of all files in a selected directory and sub-directories, up to a theoretical max of 18 ExaBytes of data....or 250 thousand 4 TeraByte harddisks full of data
Percentage progress indicator to keep user notified of progress with total bytes examined info on completion
Ability to hash physical and logical disks (if ran in Linux using root or sudo), e.g. /dev/hda or /dev/hda1
Enables digital forensic practitioners or IT security staff to hash files at times when files have been extracted out from forensic software before or after transportation to non-forensic staff
Fast with a simple, non-confusing interface. SHA1 and SHA512 are usually faster than mainstream Windows tools and SHA1SUMSHA512SUM Linux commands
Though designed as a GUI for Linux, there is an exe for Windows platform too
Ability to export the hashing results of recursive directory scans to a CSV text file, or a HTML web file, or both, or neither
Ability to copy data to clipboard using Ctrl+C
No installation. No wizards. No registration. Just double click and use, instantly.
Open Source (please feedback any code improvements for future versions)
What's New in This Release:· Moved some of the tick boxes into a panel group to help with resizing and moved the status bars of recursive directory hashing further in to the left.
· This is because it became apparant that on resolutions of less than 1600 pixels, they were not visibile. These changes have reduced, but not cured,
· the problem. As a result, a new tabbed interface is being worked on and will probably result in a v2 release status.
System Requirements:No special requirements.
Program Release Status: Minor Update
Program Install Support: Install and Uninstall
