VisualGDB allows using GDB as a debugger back-end for Visual Studio.

VisualGDB allows using GDB as a debugger back-end for Visual Studio. It supports embedded applications, remotely running Linux/MacOS applications, gdbserver-based simulators and many more. The following Visual Studio debugging features are supported:

- Line, function and data breakpoints
- Stepping in, over and out of functions
- Setting next statement
- Annotated disassembly with optional byte codes
- Easy-to-use watch window
- Locals and autos
- Memory windows
- Register window
- Thread window

Just like the ordinary C++ projects...

VisualGDB is an extension to the C++ Project package. This means all visualization and refactorring tools and plugins (including IntelliSense, of course) will work as if you were developing an ordinary Windows application. VisualGDB will detect the include paths and preprocessor macros from your toolchain and make IntelliSense recognize it. Moreover, with VisualGDB you can easily import the standard include directories from a remote Linux machine and make them visible to IntelliSense.

Seamless source file transfer

VisualGDB Network and Enterprise editions allow running GCC/GDB on a remote Linux/MacOS machine. The modified source files will be transferred automatically and the file paths in GCC error messages and GDB notifications will be automatically translated. Furthermore, the directory mapping between Visual Studio and GDB can be customized at any moment during debugging to allow debugging the code built without VisualGDB.

GDB Session Window

VisualGDB allows running custom GDB commands directly from Visual Studio debugging session. Moreover, you can customize the startup commands and GDB command-line arguments at any time.

The powerful project wizard

VisualGDB features a Project Wizard that allows easily creating new projects and importing existing code into VisualGDB. It allows generating makefiles supporting DEBUG/RELEASE configurations and allows fine-tuning all settings for every configuration. After the project is created, every configuration can be customized further using the settings editor.
