To get started, the user is required to create accounts, which can be a cash, etc, credit card, real bank account, pocket money. The next step is to enter transactions, both purchases and earnings. To make it easier for the user to track budget in details, transactions can be defined with categories, family members, tags. Tags help to differentiate between similar transactions that fall into the same category.
Personal Finances has a powerful reporting engine that can generate bar, pie chart reports and trands with percentages and totals that reflect the flow of money for any period of time. The user can generate reports by family members, tags, categories. By clicking on any item in the report, user can drill down deeper to transactions associated with the item. Reports can be printed to paper, or saved to file in HTML, CHM, or TXT.
