zsim is a framework for simulating
zsim is a framework for simulating, analyzing, controlling systems defined by Matlab classes. It functions somewhat like simulink in that the user chains together different modules to create a complex simulation structure, however there is no graphical user interface. All of the modules in zsim are objects created from Matlab classes derived from the classes contained in this package.
I created this framework because I was running some very complex simulations while working on a stochastic control algorithm. I wanted complete control over everything in the simulation, preferred object-oriented programming, and I didn't want to use Simulink's gui, so I created this package. Before I began to code, I searched on the file exchange and didn't find anything like this, so I decided I would upload this - perhaps it can help someone get started if they are working on a project like mine.
In addition to the structural components, I have included base classes for continuous systems, an Extended Kalman Filter, cost function accumulators, and saving and playing back simulations. One downside is that simulations are very slow (at least in my version of Matlab). A demonstration example with some pendulums and Kalman Filters is included.
