The CGIL Lombardia is a trade union which has 912,272 members in 2010 and has as its main objective to represent and defend the interests of workers, retirees and citizens in general Lombardi. Men and women, natives and foreigners, young and old, employed, casual workers and job seekers, workers and public employees of the private sectors, in short, everyone. It is our main mission.
Why we decided to prepare the Social? We did so because we believe that this is an opportunity to talk about us to others, to explain what we did because we did it and with what resources. It is an opportunity to tell our work with transparency to a whole year: its value, its effectiveness, its difficulties, its consistency with our principles and our political choices. It is also a way to build our house and to improve the transparency of our actions. The CGIL has chosen the path of the Social and not to indulge a "fashion" but in the belief that social reporting is another piece to a complex organization like ours, to choose the way of transparency in a pact in and out of the CGIL, which active and positive while those who represent our stakeholders, our counterparts. All those who interrelate with us must know that the CGIL the way of a self-reform of the Organization of the Conference began in May 2008, sets in motion a series of behaviors that affect a change in procedure and who have the ambition of positively influencing also the 'outside. The Social which we submit for your reading, we started from a focus of the picture of who we are, in order to better represent our members and to expand our representation into the universe of the world of work. The Social Report does not replace the spaces of political discussion, but it creates a place in there, that allows us to dialogue with all our stakeholders: the writing, with the worker, with society, with institutions, with whom we loves and who hates us, with the historian and activist who thinks that "unions are good for nothing", with who puts hope in the CGIL and who does not know where to look for the answers to those who are found to case in our Chambers of Labour and those who passionately and consistently crowd our meetings and our parades. Through these pages, everyone will realize that a piece of our work concerns him.
