Syd (formerly "SoftSynth") is an instrument editor and software synthesizer by Jim Bumgardner.
Syd (formerly "SoftSynth") is an instrument editor and software synthesizer by Jim Bumgardner. It has a graphical "patch cord" interface, and is relatively easy to use, compared to other music languages. It is particularly suitable for teaching computer music. Both Macintosh and Windows versions are available.
NOTE: I am currently working on a rewrite of Syd in Java called JSyd. You can download a beta version here. This beta is more stable than the original verson of Syd, and I recommend that you use it over the older versions of Syd shown on this page.
