Perl Interactive Query Tool Publisher's description
PIQT is an interactive query tool using the Perl DBI database interfae.
PIQT is an interactive query tool using the Perl DBI database interfae. It supports ReadLine, provides a built in scripting language with a Lisp like syntax, an online help system, and uses wrappers to interface to the DBD modules. It is still in development and has a ways to go, but it does work.
PIQT has several features to make life easier. Most of which are things I wanted in a query tool. More features are added as I find time and dream them up.
Multiple connections - Multiple connections to different databses and/or as different users can be maintaned. The connections can be changed easily.
Driver Wrappers - Wrappers for the DBD drivers csv, pg, mysql, odbc and xbase are provided to ease uses and reduce errors. Where available the wrappers also provide extended information and functionality.
Scripting Language - A scripting language with a Lisp like syntax is provided to extend PIQTs functionality.
Meta Commands - Metacommands are an alternative way to call commands. Meta commands will also be processed in SQL queries.
Slash Commands - Several slash commands are provided for manipulating the query buffer. Slash commands are also provided as aliases for commands.
ReadLine support - The ReadLine libraries are supported for command history and completion.
Online help - The is an online help system for all commands and most aspects of PIQT.
Completion - Using ReadLine commands, vriables, help topics, shell commands and SQL commands can be completed. SQL complation is attempted in context.
