VM (View Mail) is a mail reader that runs inside GNU Emacs and XEmacs. It was written as an alternative to the Emacs RMAIL mail reader. VM is highly configurable and easy to use.
VM supports POP and IMAP for mail retrieval, understands MIME, and reads both the standard UNIX mailbox format and the BABYL format used by the RMAIL mailer.
It was written as an alternative to the Emacs RMAIL mail reader by Kyle Jones. VM is highly configurable and easy to use. It has a powerful virtual folder facility to facilitate searching as well as more advanced handling of multiple mail folders.
What's New in This Release:В· All users are encouraged to try it out to iron out any problems before the final release of 8.2.0. A few important additions have been made in this version: deploying the built-in SSL functionality of Emacs (available in Emacs 24), listing folders on IMAP servers and other operations on IMAP servers, creating virtual folders of message threads and an ability to sort messages by delivery-date rather than sent-date. See NEWS file for details. The Help menu now has entries for browsing the VM manual and the NEWS file.
