Aopen AX59-Pro Bios 1.06
AX59PRO has been in the version with 512 Kbyte one of the first Super 7 motherboards to be available on the market. Based on Via MVP3 chipset, it has an ATX format and an almost typical construction. On the upper part of the motherboard there are the Socket 7 of the CPU, the memory benches (2 Simm one for the Edo and Fast Page module at 72 pins and 3 Dimm ones for memory models at 168 pins), the connectors for EIDE channels, Floppy and power supply; on the inferior part of the motherboard there are the expansion Slots for which the 1 AGP, 4 PCI and 2 ISA solution has been used. I think it would have been better to be able to integrate 5 PCI Slots without changing the number of ISA ones and I think that with a better disposition of the components (particularly the Floppy connector and the connector for the ATX power supply), this, at least for the layout problems, would have been possible.
The construction quality of the AX59PRO is very high, typical of the AOpen products: the memory benches are very good, with strong lateral lockers which can at the same time support without problems every type of memory module; the Socket 7 has a locking lever in plastics but not too strong; the connectors for the EIDE channels and Floppy have all inserting plastic guides, while the connectors for the buttons and the case led are on the right at the bottom, in an easy to access position all with specific serigraphs. Around the Socket 7 there are the switching supplier for the CPU together with a number of Sanyo capacitors at 1.000µF and 1.200µF; other smaller capacitors have been put on other critical area for the operating stability of the motherboard, such as the memory benches and the AGP Slot.
